DAWSON BUS SERVICE, INC. was started in 1929 by William O. Dawson. He and his son, William A. T. Dawson, built the first school bus for, what is now, Caesar Rodney School District. In 1965, William A. T. Dawson bought the company from his father and 1966 he added a motorcoach to his fleet of vehicles.

Today, the company is run by the third generation, William "Ray" and John "Tom", the sons of William A. T. Dawson. Ray's son, Jeff and Tom's daughter, Lisa , also are involved in carrying on the family tradition.

Dawson Bus provides deluxe motorcoach transportation on their day and overnight tours, as well as any charter trips your group requires. The school buses still transport students within local school districts in Kent County. The school buses can also service your group on local charter trips.

We are a member in good standing with the the American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, Maryland Motorcoach Association, Better Business Bureau, National School Transportation Association and the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

A sample of our history

Picture at right is the first Dawson School Bus. This was a motor vehicle that was hand built in 1929, by William O. Dawson and his son, William A. T. Dawson to provide the first school bus service for Caesar Rodney School District, in Camden Delaware. It is a sharp contrast to our current school buses, as in the picture below.

This is a picture of one of the very first Dawson Bus Motorcoaches, when Dawson Bus Service began building a fleet of vehicles in 1966. Motorcoaches have improved dramatically in safety and comfort over the years, and we have remained on the cutting edge of this industry for 87 years.
